Hiring Our Club
Feedback by the many groups who hire our facilities is that Coogee Croquet Club is one of the best locations in the eastern suburbs for holding an intimate, outdoors function. Please refer to hiring costs in the box to the right.
A growing number of groups have found a different and exciting way to liven up birthday parties, other social get-togethers or corporate functions by booking our croquet lawns and well equipped clubhouse.
What better way to socialise than with an interesting and absorbing game that is easy to learn and gets everybody involved. During and after the game you can chat over a drink looking out over the lawns under the shade of our trees enjoying balmy sea breezes.
Everyone from 12 to 102 will enjoy themselves. (Please note: Minimum age for players is 12 years). No experience is necessary. We will provide all equipment and coaching.
Clubhouse Hire - Community Groups
As well as one-off social hire for croquet, community groups may hire our Clubhouse to hold meetings on a weekly or other regular basis. (It is not suitable for regular children's activities.)
The cost is $80 per session to be paid four weeks in advance with a bond of $200.
The clubhouse has tables and chairs and a kitchen with a dedicated refrigerator, microwave, instant hot water and jugs of chilled cold water.
The club has two 3m X 3M collapsible pavillions that can be located together adjacent to the court to provide a substantial area for sit-down dining and drinking. A two burner BBQ is also available for hire.
Croquet equipment (mallets, balls, hoops) will be provided. We will set up the lawns and roster a member of the club to open up for you, set up the lawns, and give you a ten minute lesson (that's all it needs) on the game of Golf Croquet.
This is a game where up to four players compete as two teams. Each player plays in turn with their own coloured ball and the idea is to be the first to put your ball through the next hoop in sequence. Once anyone is through, that hoop is ‘dead’, and everyone goes for the next hoop. We will teach you how to hold and swing the mallet and some simple rules.
We have two lawns, so 16 people can be having fun playing this fast moving game at the same time.
Your guests simply need to wear flat soled shoes, and a hat and sunscreen on a sunny day. A mallet is swung between your legs so long pants or shorts, rather than a skirt, are recommended.
Our clubrooms and lawnside areas are available for you to do your own catering - food and alcohol. The Club is not licensed. Depending on the size of your party you will need to supply your own glasses, plates and cutlery.
We recommend a buffet allowing guests to move freely, play games, eat and socialise, before playing another game.
A club member will un-set the lawns and lock up.
